The Rivers State House of Assembly (RVHA)o has denied the allegation by an All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain, Mr Mfata Mfata that each member of the House received N30 million from Governor Nyesom Wike to screen and clear the 13 Commissioner-nominees.
The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon Samuel Ogeh who dismissed the insinuation last Friday in a press briefing in Port Harcourt, described the allegation as baseless.
The spokesman of the Assembly said there was no time the members of the House collected money from any person, group or the state Governor before under-taking its legislative Assignment.
He said screening of appointees especially members of the cabinet, is an exclusively legislative function that does not need any person to bribe the House before it can do its job.
He said allegation is coming from someone who does not understand anything about legislative business in the state.
The Assembly dismissed the APC Chieftains, allegation, saying it lacked substance to be responded to.
He called on the APC leadership to call its chieftain to order, saying that though criticism is part of politics, it should be constructive.
The Assembly spokesman reiterated the House Committee to the state Government new vision initiative, assuring that it would continue to give it legislative backing to ensure the delivery of democracy dividends in the state.
