Church Organises Football Competition For Women
A Cleric, Pastor Stanley Nwulu, has charged Christians to maintain mental and physical fitness so as to serve God well.
Nwulu, a Senior pastor of Devine Solution Power Church Incorporated, Igbo, in Etche Local Government Area Rivers State, gave the charge Sunday, during a football competition organised for women members of the church.
The man of God noted that exercise is very important for physical fitness and good health, stressing that it reduces the risk of heart diseases, cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes and other diseases.
“It can improve your appearance and make us live long. People of all age groups can take advantage of exercises to keep fit”, he said.
The Soccer competition which took place at Elohin International School in Igbo Etche saw Love team battle with Peace team for a Golden trophy donated by the church.
Captain of Peace team, Joy Obilor, scored the opening goal at 32 minutes through a free kick while Lauretta Iwuchi of Love team scored the equalizer in a goal mouth struggle.
Both teams maintained the scoreline as several scoring opportunities were missed from both sides at regulation time.
Peace Team won 4-3 in a pinalty shoot out.
At the closing of the competition, Pastor Nwulu handed over the trophy to the winner and commended the teams for the strong determination, remarking that they had proved that women were not confined to the kitchen alone.
He urged them to always find time in midst of socio-economic activities to exercise their body.
