Chidoka Condoles With Deceased UPP Member’s Family

The United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate in the November 18 Anambra State governorship election, Chief Osita Chidoka has condoled with the family of late Maduabuchi Uwakwe who died during the party’s primary.
Chidoka, who visited the Owerre Ezukala home of the deceased last Wednesday, described his death as painful and completely unacceptable.
It would be recalled that Uwakwe, the Chairman of Owerre Ezukala Ward 1, died during the accreditation exercise of the primary election of the party on August 19.
The former Minister of Aviation said that he would get to the root of the issues that led to the stampede and unfortunate death of the party official.
He added that his death must not be waved aside by anybody under any guise, noting that the dedicated and hardworking young man dutifully propagated the ideology of the UPP.
“Our event was going on peacefully and smoothly, we were therefore, shocked to hear that the venue of the accreditation had been invaded by thugs.
“We also heard that the police was trying to contain the situation and that one of our members had collapsed as a result of the stampede.
“We immediately ordered that the member be rushed to the hospital while we rushed to the accreditation venue. It was later that we received the painful news that our brother had died.
“Since then our party has been thrown into mourning,’’ he said. Chidoka promised that the killers would not go unpunished, while praying that God grants his soul eternal rest and grace to the family to bear the loss.
Responding, the Head of the family, Mr Maurice Okpara, thanked Chidoka for his concern and solidarity with the family.
Okpara said that the family had committed those who brought in the thugs that led to Uwakwe’s death into God’s hands.
According to him, the late Uwakwe was an industrious person who had been playing leading roles in projecting UPP in the area and prayed that his death will not be in vain.
