Zone 9 Promises To Come Tops In Police Games

The Chairman of the Zone 9 Police Sports Committee, Emmanuel Adindu, says the zone has mapped out strategies to ensure that it comes top at the 2017 Police Games.
He said the Zone had just concluded a two-day meeting of sports officers of the various commands in the zone to fine tune strategies and ensure early preparation for the games.
Adindu, who is a Deputy Superintendent of Police, told newsmen in  Enugu  that the zone would be concentrating in sports that it has advantage over other zones to boost its chances of  clinching the top spot.
He said the zone has good chances of sweeping the medals in football and combat sports.
“We came 6th in the last National Police Games in 2016.
“But we are poised to surpass that record this year and we believe that early intensive preparation would help us a lot to achieve our desires this year.
“We are calling on Police Commissioners in the zone and the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in the zone to assist us to achieve our target,’’ he said.
Adindu said that the zone was proud of its two teams currently playing in the National Nationwide League One (NNWL-1).
“Crime Busters FC, Enugu and Baton FC, Owerri are doing us proud. I must commend the Commissioners of Police of Enugu and Imo States for supporting these high flying clubs in the national league.
“Five of  athletes in our zone would be travelling to the U.S. in August to represent the Nigerian Police in the World Police Games. They are participating in judo, taekwondo and two other combat sports.
“All these are eloquent testimonies that the zone is doing fine but we need to strive harder,’’ he said.
Tidesports source gathered  that the zone  is made-up of Abia, Anambra, Enugu and Imo Police Commands.
The 2017 edition of the National Police Games has been tentatively fixed for September  2.
