Youth Task CTC Chairman On Security
A youth leader in Babbe, Khana Local Government Area, Rivers State, Comrade Peter Kponeh, has urged the newly sworn-in Caretaker Committee (CTC) Chairman of Khana LGA, Gbene Lekue Zini to make youth empowerment and security a top priority in his development agenda.
Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt, Kponeh expressed concern over the security challenges in Khana in particular and Ogoni in general, which had led to wanton loss of lives in the area.
He regretted that youth, who were the future leaders of Ogoni, were being decimated in a growing spate of violence in the area.
Kponeh, who is also the public relations officer of a foremost elitist platform in Ogoni, ‘Babbe Links’, expressed confidence in the ability of the new caretaker committee chairman to deliver the dividends of democracy to Khana people, stating that his pedigree as an “astute youth leader and man of intense grassroots involvement’ would enable him address the issues of youth restiveness and insecurity in the area.”
He urged the youth of Khana to see the appointment of Zini as an opportunity to better their lives by embracing the programmes of government to become useful to themselves and the society at large.
Kponeh advised the new CTC chairman, to hold regular meetings with the youth leadership of all Khana communities to ensure proper security alertness and check security breaches in the various communities.
The youth leader, who is also an officer of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), thanked the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for the appointment of Zini as the Khana CTC chairman, and called on the people of Khana to give him the desired support to succeed.
