Solid Minerals Dev: Chinese Geologists Arrive C’River
Sequel to efforts by the Cross State Government to reposition the solid minerals sector of the State under Governor Ben Ayade, the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development has welcomed a team of geologists from Shaanxi Province, China, for the purpose of carrying out geological survey to ascertain the occurrence of solid minerals deposits in all mineralised zones in the State.
The Commissioner, Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, Rt. Hon. George O’Ben-Etchi, while welcoming the team at the Ministry’s Conference Room said he was pleased that Cross River State and Shaanxi Province were on the same page regarding the development of the solid minerals sector.
Recalling the state delegation’s visit to China, which was led by the governor, O’Ben-Etchi noted that Shaanxi had given Ayade their word that a team from China would visit the state and of a truth they have shown a great level of commitment by coming.
O’Ben-Etchi while emphasising the importance of the mineral mapping exercise said: “ The need for this exercise cannot be overemphasised as the state amongst other benefits would have a geological map with the mineral locations, have a comprehensive list of different minerals, their composition, quantity, quality, location and uses as well as prioritize the minerals based on the commodity market and ultimately attract local and international markets”.
The commissioner assured the team of the state’s readiness to support and assiduously work with them in order to achieve the set goals while wishing them a blissful stay in the nation’s paradise.
The Head Geologist, Shaanxi Geological, Mineral Survey & Development Corporation, Mr. Fan Jing, said he and his team members were pleased to be in the state and are willing to do their best in order to bring back successful reports from the field.
“Although, we are not familiar with the geographical and geological terrains of your state, your assurances to render your total support while we are here, has made us comfortable and shows that we all mean serious business,” Jing added.
