‘Rivers, Safe, Secure For Business’
The immediate past Commissioner for Transport in Rivers State, Deacon Akie Fubara, has declared that contrary to the negative publicity in some sections of the media, Rivers State is actually safe and secure for various kinds of business, tourism and other economic activities.
Fubara said this at the weekend, in his vote of thanks during the national conference of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The former transport commissioner added that the government of Governor Nyesom Wike has done so much to improve marine transport in the state, including the reconstruction of the Okrika ATC jetty and the ongoing construction of the Bonny/Bille/Nembe jetty projects.
He also said the efforts of the present administration had ensured security of lives and property, leading to the numerous national events the State had hosted in recent times.
While stressing his willingness to do more for the institute, Fubara added that Rivers State would be happy to host the national conference again next year.
Fubara, who received an award for his immense contributions to transport and logistics at the event, thanked the institute for the honour done him, and promised to remain a worthy ambassador of the body.
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, which Fubara is a distinguished fellow, held its first national conference outside Lagos at the Atrium Events Centre in Port Harcourt.
