Rivers Community Wants Mobile Police Unit

The people of Igbo Community in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, have appealed to the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Zaki Mohammed Ahmed, to establish a Mobile Police Force (MPF) unit in the area.
The call they said,  become important in order to curtail the excesses of criminals along Igbo/Etche/Eneka Road through C4i check point.
Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt after he sent a letter to Rivers CP on the establishment of MPF in the area, the Onuowu 1 of Igbo Kingdomd in Etche LGA, Chief Kemakolom Nwanuo, said the people of the community were worried over the increasing rate of crime in the area.
According to him, hoodlums have taken the advantage that the people of Umuogodom in Igbo Etche and Rumuokwurusi community in Obio/Akpor local government area are in long dispute over ownership of land in various courts in the state.
He opined that establishing security unit in that area would scare the hoodlums away from the troubled area as well as protect lives and property in the area.
The traditional ruler disclosed that the community has a befitting accommodation that would take care of the personnel to be posted and also take care of their welfare.
