The Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, says the Federal Government would continue to support programmes that are geared towards improving the lives of the people across the country.
Osinbajo stated this yesterday while inaugurating two major roads in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State reconstructed by the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration in the state.
The two major roads inaugurated by the Acting President include Chokocho-Umuechem-Ozuzu and Igbo-Etche-Chokocho-Rumuokurushi interchange roads, all measuring about 30 kilometres.
The acting president, who was accompanied on the brief occasion by an All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator, Magnus Abe, representing Rivers East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, lauded Wike for embarking on projects that would make the people happy as well as impact on their lives.
Osinbajo, who was elated on the quality of the projects, urged the people of the state to always learn how to live in unity, adding that unity and oneness are one of the bedrocks for the country’s greatness.
“We are greater when we stay together and unity is the strength of the country. This is a wonderful work, I am happy, and I commend the governor for the feat on the work done.”
Earlier in his brief remarks at the occasion, the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike said the projects commissioned were in fulfilment of his campaign promises to the people of Etche ethnic nationality.
Wike remarked that the two roads rehabilitated by his administration were in  deplorable conditions, adding that the reconstructed roads would improve the economic and political development of the area.
The state governor used the opportunity to thank the communities for cooperating with the constructing companies, adding that their support assisted in timely completion of the road projects.
Our correspondent reports that the two roads reconstructed by the Wike administration cut across eight towns within two major clans in Etche LGA and Obio/Akpor LGA of the state.
