No Time Frame For Criminal Prosecution -Emeh

As reactions continue to trail the directive of the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike to the newly sworn-in Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Emmanuel Chinwe Aguma, SAN, to ensure that the prosecution of former Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Chidi Lloyd, over attempted murder of Hon Michael Chindah as well as the prosecution of Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, Chief Emeh Glory Emeh has explained that the governor was acting within the law because prosecution of criminal matters do not have time limit.
Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt, Emeh, who was Commissioner for Transport during the administration of former Governor,Peter Odili, disagreed with those who believe that they have immunity by the mere fact that the government at the time the offence was committed had withdrawn trial by way of nolle prosque.
The former chief of staff, Government House, who maintained that Wike  only stated the obvious when he gave the directive, added that it was wrong for anybody to impute motive of persecution or hatred because prosecution of criminal matters was not time-barred.
His words: “The governor is at liberty to call up any criminal matter that is being swept under the carpet, particularly in cases where the defendant pretends incapacity by reason of health to evade prosecution.
“It is on record that Hon. Michael Chindah, the victim of Chidi Lloyd’s onslaught and brutality can never be the same again, and any attempt to trivialise the heinous act is not only playing God but laughing at both the victim and his family”, the political strategist said.
Similarly, Emeh Glory Emeh has described the recent dissolution of Rivers State Executive Council by Governor Nyesom Wike as a normal administrative exercise designed to revitalise and reposition the administrative machinery of governance for enhanced service delivery.
Emeh said that Wike was versed in democratic governance, having been in government for some time, and should appreciate when to re-organise the operators for efficient and effective delivery of his commitment to the people, urging the citizens not to read any extraneous motive to the well-thought out decision.
The political strategist and lawyer advised opposition politicians who lack sufficient information and knowledge of the rudiments of administration, to stop intruding in the official freedom of the leader of the state.
Emeh maintained that, in the past two years, Governor Wike has instilled a new spirit of times, promoted fresh commitment to the values of efficient performance and installed very dynamic mechanism for close monitoring and control in government business.
The former Transport  Commissioner described Wike as an articulate and coordinated manager of men and resources, and also prescribed solutions to problems within the framework of a more ideological perspective, with the conscious and supremely patriotic commitment to harness scarce resources to accelerate the development of the state.
He congratulated the governor on the re-appointment of the Attorney–General, Emmanuel Aguma, and the swearing-in of permanent secretaries, caretaker committee chairmen and members, describing the decision as apt for the smooth running of government.
Emeh called on the people of the state to disregard the baseless negative imputations to the dissolution of the executive council, and continue to give Wike maximum support.
