MMIA Undertakes TSA Security Audit
The management of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, is carrying out the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), security audit in line with TSA security procedures.
A statement from the corporate communications unit of the authority said that, a four-man team from the transportation security administration, United States of America, is in Nigeria to execute the security procedures.
The team which is led by a Transportation Security Specialist (TSS), according to the statement, will in the course of the exercise observe the implementation of Aviation Security measures in place at the MMIA.
It also stated that, the team will exchange technical expertise in line with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Annex 17 and International Aviation Security Standard and best practices.
“Security is a serious issue and as a regulatory body, we give it much attention. Thus, security issues are resolved in a timely manner.
“Therefore, the outlined agenda for the exercise will include the examination of Airport Operations and Standards. Quality Control, Access Control point at the airport, measures relating to aircraft maintenance, passenger and baggage screening, cargo, mailing and catering service, among others”, it stated.
The statement also explained that screening equipment, airport contingency plan and airport security programme will also be essential issues to be examined.
Inspection will also be conducted on Nigerian airlines operating direct fly to the United States on the TSA security procedure.
