Minister Lists Aviation Sector’s Giant Strides

Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, has said that the present Muhammadu Buhari-led government has committed itself to ensuring the development of aviation in Nigeria through seamless polices and programmes designed to ensure a quantum leap in the industry.
He said that Nigerian aviation vision and policy trust he has recently unveiled cover all areas of core aviation concern including safety, security enhanced facilitation and mutually beneficial partnership that drive modern growth and development.
The minister, who disclosed this in an interaction with newsmen in Abuja recently, said that security and safety which are pivotal to aviation business all over the would have improved significantly in Nigeria.
According to him, the new policies of the present administration have brought about massive manpower training programmes for the personnel of agencies in the aviation industry.
“All these efforts have already started yielding positive results as Nigeria has passed its last International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) security audit and its universal safety oversight, audit in good grades, achieving a record of 96 per cent mark.
“Nigeria has also made tremendous progress in engendering a sustainable framework for growth. The future of aviation lies in partnership that will sustain the key sector through public private partnership (PPP) mechanism.
“New airport terminals are nearing completion in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt and Enugu airports. The construction of an ultra-modern five –story car park at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, are some of the on-going critical projects”, he stated.
