LG To Set Up Special Sanitation Task Force
The Khana Local Government Council, says it will setup an environmental sanitation taskforce to check the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in Bori and its environs.
Caretaker Committee chairman of the council, Gbene Lekue Zini, said this in an interview with newsmen at the end of a special sanitation exercise organized by the council for Bori and its environs at the weekend.
Gbene Zini said that, the committee will be charged with the responsibility of arresting and prosecuting any one seen dumping refuse indiscriminately in the area.
While describing the condition of drainages in the community as an eyesore, the caretaker chairman stressed the need for regular cleaning of drainages across the city and its environs.
Gbene Zini commended the people for their massive turned out for the exercise despite the heavy downpour in the area.
He said that, his administration will not relent in ensuring that Bori becomes one of the most cleanest council headquarters in Rivers State.
Also speaking, the Supervisor for Health and Environment in the council, Hon. Anthony Muesu, restated the determination of the council to rid Bori of refuse stressing that, the council will sustain the special sanitation exercises.
He commended the people for their massive turn out for the exercise and urged for it to be sustained.
