A Port Harcourt-based Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), Advocacy for Peace, Social Justice and Good Governance, has called on the Rivers State Government to beef up security around the suburbs and rural areas to stem the destruction of lives and property in the state.
The secretary of the body, Mr. Josiah  Ebenezar, who made the call in Port Harcourt last Monday, noted that cultism was ravaging the suburbs of Port Harcourt and rural communities in the state.
Mr. Ebenezar expressed regrets that two brothers were beheaded in Rumuoparaeli in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state, recently.
According to him, careful and adequate surveillance would help to stem crime in the state.
He said that cultism, kidnapping and armed robbery were making the state unsafe for business to thrive in the affected communities.
Mr. Ebenezar, who is a Port Harcourt based legal practitioner remarked that cultism survived on the inaction of members of the public who are too scared to stop the menace.
He said  rivalry between two cult groups had put paid to security efforts in the state.
