‘Ghana Won’t Give Up On 2018 W/Cup Dream’
Kwadwo Asamoah has insisted that Ghana will not give up on their 2018 World Cup hopes despite being in a tough situation in their qualifying group.
The Juventus player, who has not appeared for the national team since 2014, believes Ghana can recover from their poor start in the group stage and claim a place in the 2018 finals.
Ghana are currently placed third in Group E of the Third Round CAF qualifiers, having claimed just one point from their opening two matches.
They trail leaders Egypt by five points and it will certainly be an uphill battle for them to go to a fourth successive World Cup tournament.
The Black Stars will resume their World Cup qualifying campaign with back-to-back clashes against Congo Brazzaville in late August and early September.
“In football, you can’t say everything is over because there are lots of surprises in football,” Asamoah told Soccer Laduma Radio.
“For the previous years, playing the World Cup qualifiers, Ghana has been so good, this time around, things are a bit difficult.
“But still I know we are not going to give up, Ghana is a very good side always trying to go to the World Cup, is not easy though because Egypt is a very good side.”
