e-Learning: Expert Wants ICT Instructors In Rivers Schools
The Rivers State Government, has been charged to employ International Communication Technology (ICT) instructors in government owned schools in order to enhance e-learning in the state.
In an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt, last Tuesday, an ICT expert, Engr Nnamdi Didia said the gesture would also allow for better ICT growth in the state.
He said that people are now weary of manual method of teaching and learning.
Didia explained that the government’s initiative over the establishment of ICT centres at all levels of the state-owned schools was noble, but regretted that there was not enough manpower to handle it.
He noted that if the project was given the needed attention, the state could transform to ICT hub in the nearest future.
The ICT expert, informed that ICT was the best method of investment in today’s business environment.
In his view, he pointed out that its ready market was enough evidence to prove that the project was worth venturing into.
While appreciating the state government’s project execution drive, he said there was need for ICT to grow in the state.
He also stressed the need for the re-introduction of ICT holiday training programmes for all students in the state.
Earlier, he had called on communities which play host to ICT facilities in the schools located in their areas, to contribute their own quota towards the development of e-learning in the state.
