A Niger Delta-based activist, Rev Sokari Soberekon, has backed the call for the restructuring of the country.
Soberekon told newsmen in Port Harcourt that restructuring was the only solution to the problems bedeviling  the country.
According to him, since Nigeria’s  amalgamation experiment has expired, restructuring should be carried out with a view to granting some levels of autonomy to the various ethnic groups inhabiting the country.
The activist  also said that Nigerians would be happy with a referendum instead of election in 2019.
“They should use the money for election to organize referendum”, he said.
Soberekon said that greater political autonomy should be granted to the Niger Delta region, the Arewa, the Oduduwa and the Middle Belt.
He commended Governor Nyesom Wike for developing the state’s infrastructure.
He vowed to sustain the campaign for the development of the Niger Delta region.
