A Kaduna-based upcoming artist, Christian Nwogo, known as Chiggie Pizzie, has dispelled the perception that artists based in the Northern part of the country were not talented.
Nwogo, who spoke yesterday in an interview with newsmen in Kaduna, said talents were in abundance in the North.
“The north is blessed with different cultures, religions and raw talents from all over the country; imagine a small city like Jos producing International artists like P square, Mi, Jessy Jaggs and many more,’’ he said.
He appealed to stakeholders in the entertainment industry especially the media to give support to such artists by showcasing their works.
“You see, if Nigerian wants to stay on the world map they should not look down at young artists regardless of where they come from, even in remote areas of the country”.
“Producers limit their search light to just some parts of the country forgetting that talents are everywhere in the country”.
He urged promoters and producers to take a cue from the popular TV programme, “ South African Idols’’ auditions, where aspiring artists come from every town to participate and they are accepted.
Nwogo said that gone are the days when artists were labelled “wild and crazy people who cannot contribute positively to the society.’’
He enjoined parents to support their children who are talented in any area, adding that those in the entertainment sector have impacted positively on the socio-economic development of the country.
