The Enugu State Police Command, last Thursday said it had re-strategised its security network and approach for effective policing in the state.
The command’s spokesperson, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, who spoke with newsmen in Enugu, advised residents to co-operate with the police and be law-abiding at all times.
According to him, with the new pro-active policing built on the bedrock of community-policing and collaboration with sister security agencies, police has kept Enugu State crime level low.
“The peace of the state must be maintained for people to continue to enjoy their stay and continue to sleep with their two eyes closed always,’’ he said.
He also urged them to report any criminal case and suspicious people around them to the police for necessary actions.
Amaraizu, noted that the command’s personnel would respect human rights and adhere to the rule of law in the course of discharging their responsibilities.
He added that, the command would collaborate with other security agencies and civil society organisations in line with the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Danmallam’s vision for effective co-operation.
“Officers and men of this command in Enugu State will execute duties with human face and in line with the principles of rule of law.
“Also, we are in strong partnership with other security agencies in the state and NGOs to ensure our personnel respect human rights in the course of their duties,’’ he said.
