Police Arrest 14 Cultists In Etche
The Rivers State Police Command says it arrested 14 cultists in Etche Local Government Area of the state, last weekend.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, DSP Nnamdi Omoni disclosed this while speaking with journalists in his office in Port Harcourt, recently.
DSP Omoni said that out of the 14 arrested, 12 had confessed to be members of a particular cult group operating in the local government area.
According to him, the cultists were going to Okrika Local Government Area of the state for initiation for an undisclosed operation in Tai Local Government Area before they were arrested by a combined team of the Police Crack Team, Octupus and Anti-Cultism.
The spokesperson of the State Police Command said the suspectswere arrested following a tip-off from members of the public.
He said that investigation into the matter had commenced to fish out the sponsors of the group as well as ascertaining the motive behind their operation, adding that the command would bring to justice any person or group of persons found culpable, no matter how highly placed the individual or group may be.
