Ex-Military Officer, Others In Court Over N21.1m Fraud

A retired Army Colonel Emmanuel Nebolisa (75), John Worlu (42) and others  now at large, have been arraigned  at a Port Harcourt Magistrate Court on a four-count charge of conspiracy  to defraud the  Adoration  Family Ministries incorporated of its landed property worth over N21.1 million.
According to a charge sheet made available  to The Tide  in Port Harcourt, the accused had between March and April 2017 at Igba, Mile 2 Igwuruta Eneka road, Igwuruta, in the Port Harcourt Magisterial District, willfully  and unlawfully with the intent to defraud,   removed beacon pillar used as survey  boundary marks valued  at one million, one hundred thousand naira (1,100,000.00) property of Adoration  Family Ministries  Incorporation and thereby committed  an offence  punishable  under Section 457 of the Criminal code  cap 37.vol.11 laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.
The charge sheet also said that the accused persons  and others now at large on  the same date and place  did conduct themselves in a manner likely to cause the breach of the peace by entering into a land which is  in the actual and peaceable possession of Adoration Family Ministries  Incorporation  and thereby committed  an offence  punishable under Section 81 of the criminal code cap 37 vol. II laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.
Other charges  include; willfully and unlawfully damaging ten plots  of the land  and  erecting  concrete fence on the five plots  of the  land valued at twenty million naira (20,000,000), property of the ministries as well as partitioning  the said  land  to  Adoration Family Ministries Incorporated in the year 2012 and  reselling same  plots to one Chief  Gabriel  Igwe in the year 2017 thereby committing  an offence  punishable under section  249 ? of the  criminal code cap 37 vol. II laws of Rivers State of Nigeria.
Meanwhile,  the case has been adjourned to the  5th of June, 2017for the  defence counsel address.
