Court Grants Ex-Rivers REC Bail

A Federal High Court sitting  in Port Harcourt,  and presided over by Justice Sailu Saidu, has granted bail to the former Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dame Gesila Khan.
Justice Saidu granted the former Rivers State REC bail of one hundred million naira and two surety in like sum while ruling on the bail application, over the weekend.
The trial judge also ordered that the two sureties must  be a traditional ruler and a civil sevant who must be the rank of a director either in the state or federal civil service.
The judge also ordered the accused to submit her international passport to the court register adding that the bail conditions must be complied with by the accused.
Gesila Khan was arraigned in court for allegedly receiving the sum of about N180 million as former REC of the state to influence the 2015 general elections  in the state.
The former state REC had earlier been remanded in  the custody of the South-South office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Port Harcourt by the same court pending the determination of her bail application.
