Commissioner Hails Medical Students

The Cross River State Commissioner for  Ministry of Women Affairs, Hon. Stella Odey, has applauded the Calabar University Medical Students Association (CUMSA) for their endearing spirit and efforts in tackling female health challenges in the state.
Hon. Odey, who made the commendation while addressing CUMSA members in her office during a courtesy visit, stated that it takes determination and strong will to succeed in a chosen career, advising the students not to despise the days of their little beginning but thrive for excellence in their profession.
On partnership, Hon Odey assured the association of the ministry’s unalloyed support and pledged her continuous commitment in creating awareness and sensitization to women on health related issues.
Earlier in his remarks, The President, Calabar University Medical Students Association, Adinya Mike, expressed delight at the warm reception accorded them by the commissioner. He revealed that the purpose of the visit was to familiarise with the ministry’s activities as well as seek for partnership with the ministry. He stated that the association was soliciting for support from the ministry in order to tackle female health related issues such as cervical and breast cancer as well as sexually transmitted diseases.
Also speaking, the Vice President, CUMSA, Miss Rosalyn Affia, pointed out that the visit to the ministry has accorded them the opportunity to establish a relationship with the ministry adding that their participation in the forth coming women week programme and other activities ranging from seminar and skill acquisition among others would boost the welfare of women in the society.
