Use Anniversary To Market Rivers – IT Expert

Rivers people have been advised to use the opportunity of the Golden Jubilee celebration to market the state to the world via the  social media.
An Information Technology expert, Engr. Obinna Amadi made the call in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt last Wednesday.
He said that the call became imperative after considering the level of negative use of the social media.
Amadi noted that the people’s culture, if packaged properly through the internet could attract investors to the area.
According to him, activities like local sports, cooking, and other local activities could be sold through the social media.
He regretted that people had over the years capitalised on reporting negative events on the social media in a bid to make huge profit.
The IT expert pointed out that time has come for the people to think outside the box and plan on how best to utilise the internet.
He also noted that the social media has numerous windows that are capable of projecting both the government and the individual in a proper light, rather than crusading criminal activities.
Describing the internet as a revenue spinner, he said that international bodies were interested in partnering with genuine social media practitioners that could help in marketing their products in African countries.
He lambasted those that create negative sites in a bid to have more followers, adding that such was a selfish means of making money.
While calling on the government to pay more attention to the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), he also appealed to the youths to make themselves available for ICT/IT training, pointing out that there is a ready market for them.
