Suspected Cultists Kill Youth Leader In Rivers
Suspected cultists have killed a former youth leader of Alode Community in Eleme Local Government of Rivers State, Comrade Isaac Obe and unleashed mayhem in the community over the weekend.
A source has it that the incident occurred at 7pm last Saturday which made the youths from Alode Community to protest the killing of the former community leader and his friend.
The source further disclosed that over 10 houses, including the one belonging to the community’s traditional ruler, Chief Donald Awala, were set ablaze by the angry youths.
Another source said the ershwhile youth leader was shot with his visiting friend while he was about to enter his compound on that fateful day.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incident and said security operatives had restored peace to the area.
The State Police spokesman said he does not know the identity of the two persons that were killed, but confirmed that the incident happened at about 7pm last Saturday in Alode community.
“The police led by an Area Commander went there and peace has returned, the youths had earlier gone on rampage over the incident”, adding that the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zaki Ahmed had called for a full scale investigation into the matter.
