Former Nigerian striker Benedict Akwuegbu feels that the Super Eagles cannot rely on Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho for goals.
The 20-year-old frontman Iheanacho has been leading the Super Eagles attack as Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr’s preferred first-choice striker since last year.
But former RC Lens and Panserraikos forward Akwuegbu believes that there are areas the coach should strengthen to enable the team achieve target goals.
“We need a world class striker, who can score at any given time,” Akwuegbu told Tidesports source.
“Iheanacho is a good striker but we need a world class striker if we want to build a team that will conquer the world we need to do more.
“We need to reinforce the play maker position, get a striker that scores goals, and a  a very good right back, even in central midfield we need options.”
Iheanacho, who is the two-time CAF Most Promising Talent of the Year, has made eight appearances for Nigeria – scoring five times in the process.
He’s expected to lead the Super Eagles’ attack against South Africa in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on the 10th of June 2017.
