Rivers Weightlifters Prepare For National U-17 Championship

Rivers State Weightlifters have commenced preparations for the forthcoming National Under 17 Sports Championship scheduled to hold in  August, in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Assistant Coach of the association, Mike Oyekachi disclosed this yesterday in an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt.
According to him, preparation are already on ground but intensive preparations will begin as soon as schools close for the holiday, saying that would be the perfect time to prepare adequately.
He said that all athletes are expected to be available to take full part in the preparations for the task ahead as they are  now be free from school activities to focus on their target at competition.
Most of the under 17 athletes are in school and will only be fully available for training when they are on holiday. I am certain it is the right time for them to concentrate fully on the competition”, he said.
However, Coach Oyekachi said that he has competent athletes who have all it takes to do the state proud  at  the championship billed for later this year.
“I know the athletes I have, they are  good materials who have the potential to win gold medals for the state. I am confident that, these young talents will put smiles on the faces of  Rivers people.
