Rivers SWAN Mourns Kokoriko

Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Rivers State Chapter has expressed deep shock over the death of one of the best grassroots sports promoters and developers in Rivers State, Chief Godspower Kokoriko, popularly known as Soccer Fire.
Kokoriko who was also the National President of United Youth Soccer Federation of Nigeria (UYSFON) died in the early hours of Friday.
This was contained in statement signed by the state chairman of SWAN, Sopriala Bobmanuel, which was made available to Tidesports on Saturday.
According to the statement, the vacuum created following the death of the grassroots sports exponent will be difficult to fill.
“We know that the demise of Kokoriko has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill considering his immense contributions towards grassroots development most especially in Rivers State and Nigeria at large” Bobmanuel said.
He explained that the sports fraternity has lost a great man who has carved a niche for himself in the minds of sports loving fans.
“Sports loving fans will surely miss his comical running of football commentary using word like footballically and his unique voice will remain indelible in our minds”.
SWAN in the state prays God to give his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
