The Rivers State Director of national Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Oliver Wolugbom, has charged parents to strengthen family values in terms of discipline and respect in the family, saying that proper children upbringing in the family is the bedrock of a disciplined society.
Mr Wolugbom gave the charge in his office recently when members of the International Centre for Family Care and Rehabilitation paid him a visit.
According to the NOA boss, family values need to be strengthened to curb the high incidence of crime, cultism, violence and pipeline vandalisation in the society, pointing out that the fall in family values has resulted in lack of care by parents which has made children of such homes to unleash all manner of evil on the society.
He called on parents to have children they can cater for, so that they can instill discipline and respect in their lives.
The NOA state Director appealed to those involved in destroying pipelines, kidnapping and killing to have a re-think as their actions impact negatively on the environment and the citizen.
He assured the members of the organisation of NOA’s support and partnership.
Speaking earlier, the President of the International Centre for Family Care and Rehabilitation, Barr (Mrs) Julie Oguara, intimated the NOA boss that the purpose of the visit was to inform the agency of the forth coming 2017 annual conference of the organisation with the theme: “Rebuilding the family” which would hold on Saturday, 13th May, 2017.
She said parents would be given tips on how to build a stable and peaceful family that would translate to a peaceful society, adding that NOA was important stakeholder in the success of the programme.
