The Onye Ishi Agwuru of Igbo Kingdom in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, His Majesty Eze Samuel Ndiwe Amaechi has appealed for the recognition of five more chieftaincy stools in the area.
Eze Amaechi, who is also the Paramount Ruler of  Igbo Kingdom made this appeal last Thursday when he led other traditional rulers and the people of the area to present their memo at the on-going sitting of the state panel of inquiry  reviewing the classification of chieftaincy stools in the state, holding at the Obi Wali International Conference Centre in Port Harcourt.
The paramount ruler stated that the appeal became necessary in order to lessen the burden of work load on the paramount ruler of the area, adding that the upgrading of the five stools in the area would help the royal fathers in the administration of the traditional institution in the area.
He averred that the area was hosting over 150 oil wells,  adding that such oil activities had made the area to be over-populated.
“We need five more recognised stools in the area. We are not asking for First Class stools but more recognised stools to help the majesty’s work.
“The crowd you see today is an overwhelming support of the people of Igbo Kingdom. We have presented what they want us to present, if need be we may need even another First Class stool in the area”, he stated.
The Onye Ishi Agwuru Igbo Kingdom disclosed that the chiefs and people of Igbo Kingdom have much confidence in the commission with regards to their submission even as he thanked the Chairman of the panel and his members for the opportunity given them to make their demands.
