Monarch Makes Case For Ogu Magistrate Court
The Amanyanabo of Ogu Kingdom in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, His Majesty King Nicholas Dickson Ibiebele Nimenibo, Loko IX, has appealed to the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Okrika Branch to ensure that the moribund Magistrate Court in Ogu functions effectively to dispense justice to the people.
King Nimenibo made the appeal when executive and members of the branch paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Ogu yesterday.
The traditional ruler said ordinarily, most cases that were taken to Port Harcourt and other courts in the state would have been adjudicated by the Ogu Magistrate Court if it was functioning, and frowned at a situation where the building was abandoned by those in-charge of the court.
He noted that the absence of officers of the court had been a setback to the development of the community and urged the members to take the assignment as part of their social responsibilities for the growth of the Okrika nation.
The monarch expressed joy over the establishment of the branch and charged them to work hard as a new branch to leave a remarkable legacy for others to follow, and assured them of his willingness to partner with them as a father.
In his goodwill message, the secretary, Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area Council of Chiefs, Chief Sam Ibisiki Mgbeka also advised the members to stand out and distinguish themselves without sentiments to take the Okrika nation to the next level, and ensure that court systems in Wakirike are improved by organizing seminars to enlighten the people on court process and issues of law.
Earlier, the Chairman of the branch, Barr. Praise George congratulated the king on his elevation to first class stool and disclosed that the branch was created in August 2016 with that of Okehi and Omoku, and that they were on the foundation level of the branch to achieve set goals.
The Okrika NBA Chairman thanked the Amanyanabo of Ogu for the warm reception and for accepting to be the Royal Father of the day during the luncheon, and assured of their cordial working relationship with the monarch.
