Gunmen Kill Three In Emohua
Gunmen have, again, killed no fewer than three people in a fresh cult clash in Elibrada community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.
A source in the community said that the gunmen struck, last Wednesday, shot sporadically and killed three persons on the spot.
He gave names of the victims as Nwonebe Wosu, Chinedu Owhor and Chinule.
It was gathered that the clash that erupted in the area was between members of the Icelander and Dey-Gbam cult groups.
A source in the community, who did not want his name in print, confirmed that the community recorded three fatalities after heavy shootings that lasted for over four hours.
The source also lamented that the community has been deserted because of the killing and shootings.
The source said, “Just Wednesday morning, we recorded three deaths. There was no tension prior to the killing. The only thing we saw was late in the night, there were gunshots all over the community.
“As at that time when the gun battle started, there was no police patrol. Every effort we made to bring security to the community that night was abortive. As it stands now, the people are living in fear.”
When contacted, the Rivers State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident, but quickly added that he was yet to get an official report from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in that area.
Omoni said, “I have not gotten official report of the incident from the DPO in charge of that area. But I have received a call hinting me about it.”
