Go Round FC Tops NNL, Beats Abia Comets 2-0

Go Round FC of Omoku, in Rivers state has kept its hope alive to play in the elite’s League in Nigeria next season, as they beat their guest Abia Comets 2-0 and returned top on the log.
The encounter was one of the week 11 games in the ongoing Nigeria National League (NNL) played at Krisdera Hotel Stadium, in Omoku, on Saturday.
Both goals were scored in the first segment  of  the game as host captain Nelson Esor converted a spot kick at the 14th minute, shortly after Abia Comets player parried the ball with his left hand inside the no hard tackle 18 yard box.
George Vincent corked the victory at 34th minute through a  meticulously taken free kick just two yards after the box, which the goal keeper fumbled with the ball to shake the back net.
The visitors in the second phase raised their game to at least run away with a point, as they dominated the first 20 minutes in the half, but yielded no fruit.
Speaking shortly after the game, president of Go Round FC, Felix Obuah expressed optimism that his side will not drop any point again.
He noted that his team not scoring in the second half was the game plan of the technical crew.
“Well I am happy that we have improved from the last game, because the players played to instructions, though I expected more than two goals.
Abia Comets are also a strong team, but the superior side won.  Like I told you earlier, this is just the beginning, we are not going to drop any point till the end of the season”, Obuah said.
Go Round FC technical adviser, Ngozi Elechi commended his players for the two nil victory, but expressed disappointment over their laxity in the second half.
However he attributed it to the stressful journey the players had while coming back from Calabar, which resulted to fatigue.
Victor Nwakanma coach of Abia Comets, said his team played well in spite of the fact that they lost, saying Go Round FC utilised opportunities they had in the first half.
“Scoring two goals against Abia Comets doesn’t mean we are not a good team, just that our opponents had the opportunity and they capitalised on it”, Nwakanma said.
