Don’t Disturb Wike’s Govt, Activist Tells Biafrans

As May 30, 2017, date for the planned sit-at-home threat by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) draws closer, an activist, Dr Sokari Soberekon, has warned the Igbos not to disturb Governor Nyesom Wike’s peaceful reign in Rivers State.
He gave the warning while speaking with newsmen, in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Soberekon said that the best option for the Biafra agitators was to organise a solemn assembly and seek God’s face.
The activist maintained that Rivers State was not part of Biafra and should not be included in any of their plans.
He also warned that any public procession by the IPOB supporters was capable of attracting military attention, especially at this period of speculations of suspected coup plot in the country.
According to him, the army was now on red alert and would take the needed action at the slightest provocation to protect the sovereignty and unity of Nigeria.
The septuagenarian said that he was not prepared to witness another civil war, adding that no country fights civil war twice and survives it.
He pointed out that the yearning for freedom was not peculiar with the Igbos alone, but the Niger Delta as well as other zones of the country, saying that the best international approach to secession must be applied.
He recalled that amnesty was granted the Igbos in 1970, after the civil war, and argued that such grace may be withdrawn, if they continue to toe the path of violence.
The former heavy-weight wrestler also advised all regions agitating for self-determination to adopt an aboriginal name for their desired country, in order to set a better standard.
He further warned against dragging some states into belonging to countries contrary to their will, saying that any region that could not stand on its own should drop the struggle and join others.
It would be recalled that IPOB has declared Tuesday, May 30, 2017, a sit-at-home day in an attempt to press home their request for a separate country from Nigeria.
