Stakeholders Task RSG On ICT Expansion
The Rivers State Government has been called upon to ensure that Information and Communications Technology (ICT) was introduced to all aspects of the economy in order to record huge success.
Stakeholders who spoke with The Tide Wednesday in Port Harcourt, said that ICT was responsible for the sanity in the state’s salary payment.
One of the respondents, Mr Ferguson Esawi, noted that the civil service system now celebrates refined system due to the introduction of ICT.
He said that when the system was manually operated, workers incomes were always deducted through unknown means.
Esawi, maintained that all sectors of the economy would experience boom upon adoption of ICT system.
In her view, Ms Blessing Okoro, said that the deployment of ICT to every sector of the system would not only usher in sanity, but would increase output.
She recalled how cumbersome it could be in manual recording, saying that ICT eases off the system.
Okoro, also made case for ICT teachers in all primary and secondary schools in the state in a bid to train the young ones on ICT usage.
According to Ms Iyira Tom, ICT should be used to handle every system, including the state-owned media houses.
She reasoned that the State Government should make the use of ICT compulsory in all sectors so as to check corruption.
It would be recalled that Rivers State was the first to commence e-payment in the country.
