NCC Moves To Ensure Smooth Telecoms Operation
The Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Communications Commission, Prof. Umar Danbatta, has said that the agency was ready to operate smooth telecommunications industry in Nigeria.
Danbatta spoke at a public function through the agency’s executive commissioner stakeholder management, Mr Sunday Dare in Abuja on Sunday.
He said that with stakeholders in the international data access and interconnect exchange services, huge success would be recorded in the system.
The NCC boss, also pointed out that the commission was determined to proffer lasting solutions to the issues of international data access.
The Tide online source further said that interconnect and exchange services in Nigeria from the regulatory standpoint as stipulated by Nigeria Communications Act (NCA) 2003 would also be achieved by the commission.
He said that the meeting was a clear response to the series of complaints the commission had received from the service providers and subscribers.
The NCC’s henchman, was of the view that the agency was saddled with no other task than to ensure that the public gets the best services from the commission.
The Tide gathered that the agency has concluded plans to clamp down on any service provider who was not prepared to play according to the rule.
Also speaking, the Director, Licensing and Authorisation, Ms Funlola Akiode said that they were determined to hear all sides as regards regulation, and as well develop modalities, process, policies and improved rules to govern all segments of the industry.
She noted that the forum would lead to clear improvements in the telecommunication environment and the entire business world.
Meanwhile, some subscribers in Port Harcourt, like Sunday Azunda, said that NCC should do more in the areas of regulations.
They maintained that more should be done on the part of the agency, to ensure that service providers do not operate below the international standard of telecommunications.
