Monarch Denies Harassment Of Neighbouring Community
The Onuonu I of Igbo Kingdom in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief Kemak-olom Nwanuo, said he never harassed Rumuo-kwurusi Community with security agents over a disputed land as claimed by the community.
Chief Nwanuo, disclosed this while speaking with journalists in his palace in Chokota, Igbo Etche at the weekend following the allegation that, he invaded the community over a disputed land.
He said, community has a boundary with Uriebe Community and not Rumuokwurusi as claimed adding that there was no way his people could forcefully enter a place that was not close to them.
The Onuonu I of Igbo kingdom said the community invited operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in the community to stop irate Rumuokwurusi youths from causing violence in the area.
The community leader averred that, the disputed land was already in a court of competent jurisdiction.
According to him, “it was the same Rumuok-wurusi community that took the case to court after the state government intervened on the matter through the Obio/Akpor Local Government Council in 2016.”
Chief Kemakolom urged them to wait patiently for the outcome of the verdict stressing that, by their recent acts of hooliganism they have already known the outcome of the matter.
He called on the publice to disregard the purported media publication by the Rumuokwurusi Community because it lacked facts.
He opined that, his community would abide by the decision of the court even as he urged them to stop soiling the image of security agents in the state.
“Ordinarily, I would not have said anything on this matter because it is already in court. My community only have land boundary with Oriebe Community. Rumuokwurusi had taken them to court, they should wait to hear the outcome of the matter, he stated.
