Ibani Urges Massive Voters Registration

The speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly (RVHA) Rt Hon.  Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani has called on  adults of 18 years and above,  including hose who have lost their voter’s cards to participate in the forth coming national voters registration exercise  in the state.
Ibani made the call Thursday, in a chat with newsmen at the Assembly complex in Port Harcourt, His call followed the recent announcement by the Independent National Electroal Commission (INEC) that it would commence voters registration exercise across the country, April 27, 2017.
Ibani said the call become  necessary to ensure that the voting strength  of the state  is maintained  in accordance  with the voting population in the country.
The speaker also charged all politicians and stake holders  in the state to mobilise their wards and kinsmen to ensure that no  voting  population  is lost in all quarters of the state.
He said,  time has gone when ghost names were registered  to rig elections in the country.
The speaker who noted the new system of electronic voting as passed by the National  Assembly,  expressed  the need to  mobilise  residents, particularly those at the  rural  areas  of the  state to register enmasse during the forthcoming voters registration in the country.
Recalling the events that trailed  the December  10,2016 rerun election in the state, the speaker said the Peoples  Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers  State will ensure one man, one vote and no group or individuals  will rig  elections in  the state again.
Ibani urged  the commission to ensure proper registration of eligible  voters in the state without fear or favour.
The speaker  reiterated the Assembly’s  commitment to ensure credible and proper registration of voters in the state.
