Arch Bishop of the Niger Delta province of the Anglican Communion, Ignatus Katty, has lauded the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and indeed the federal government for keeping to the promise of reopening the Abuja airport after six weeks of closure.
Katty, who was speaking to newsmen at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa on Tuesday on his way to Abuja, noted that, the six weeks closure of the Abuja airport was a difficult time for Abuja air passengers.
He said that, the task of going through Kaduna airport and later joining ether a bus or train service for: about three hours was hectic, adding that, passengers are not used to that kind of  journey.
Accor ding to him, the Abuja-bound passengers had to comply with going through the Kaduna airport route because they do not have any choice, since they must travel to meet their engagements.
The cleric however, expressed happiness on the pronouncement made by the Managing Director of FAAN, Engineer Saleh Dunoma, that work on the airport’s runway has been completed and ready for use, which he said is a welcome development.
On Rivers State’s Golden Jubilee Anniversary, Katty urged people of the state to conduct themselves peacefully, adding that, the state cannot move forward without peace.
He urged the government to focus on what to do to better the state in the next 20 years, pointing out that Rivers state was the creation of the military government to undo Biafra, but not established on the ideals of the founding fathers.
Kattey also urged youths in the state to engage themselves in meaningful activities rather than resorting to arms and fast means of making money, which cannot last for a long time.
“We do not need amnesty to be good citizens.  The youths should imbibe the fear of God in all they do. Money is not everything and they should change their orientation.  Rivers state belongs to all of us”, he said.
The Anglican Arch Bishop, however, explained that, he decided to forgive those  that kidnapped him and withdraw the case from court because Jesus Christ had asked him to forgive.
According to him, he has nothing against them anymore, because he has left everything that happened to God, who has asked him to forgive.
