Rivers State  Director, National  Orientation Agency, Mr Oliver Wolugbom has called on the executives  of the National Union of Rivers State Students to be good ambassadors of the State and the nation.
The NOA boss made the call when the National Union of Rivers State Students paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Mr Wolugbom while admonishing  the students intimated them on NOA’s mandate of interfacing  between the government and the people and enjoined them to imbibe positive attitude and values, stating that contrary to the  belief that youths are leaders of tomorrow, current trends  have shown that they are the  leaders of today.
The NOA boss charged the students to desist  from the use of violence and other destructive  means to fight for natural resources but to follow the right path by employing dialogue, due process and other democratic platforms.
Advising them against cultism and other societal  vices,  he enjoined  them to live  exemplenary life as the younger generation looks up to them as role models.
He condemned the spate  at which  young people embrace cultism, making it a norm in the society.
He stated that Rivers State government’s refusal  to pay money for exchange  of gun to repentant  cultists under the amnesty scheme is a way of encouraging intending cultists to have  a rethink. “They should genuinely distance themselves from criminality and contribute in making the state a great one.”
The State Director assured the students union of NOA’s partnership  in sensitising the people against cultism as the agency cannot  do the work alone.
The President of NURSS, Mr Patrick  Ogbuehi informed  the NOA boss  that the  purpose of the visit  was to seek collaboration with NOA in carrying out a campaign on value reorientation  among secondary  school students in the area of tackling cultism in schools.
