Coach of Akwa United Football Club, Abdu Maikaba, yesterday said his team would ensure a win in their match against Lagos-based MFM FC in the Match Day 19 fixtures of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)
The Tidesports source reports that Akwa-United will play MFM in the rescheduled NPFL game at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Akwa United who occupies the 5th position on the log, will engage league leaders, Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries (MFM) today at 4 O’clock.
Makaiba said he hoped that his team would be able to finish the first stanza of the 2016/2017 NPFL season in a comfortable position on the log.
He said that his players were well motivated ahead of the game and maintained that his target in the match is to claim the maximum three points.
“We set a target at the beginning of the season. Although we started badly, but by the grace of God we are now 5th on the table.
“We are impressed with the way we are playing at the moment, but we know that the job is not done yet.
“Our match against MFM is a must win and the three points will take us to a very good position, as we will be going into the mid-season break.
“We have to keep winning our matches both home and away so as to be able to achieve our target,’’ he said.
Tidesports reports that a win for the Promise Keepers will see them move up further on the log.
The Uyo-based team who are yet unbeaten at home this season, defeated Kano Pillars in their last away game.
Akwa United and MFM have met twice in the NPFL with one win apiece.
