25th NUGA Games: Medical, Team Ready For Emergencies

In spite of the temporary suspension of the 25th Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA) Games, Dr Terfa Iber, the Principal Officer overseeing the competition’s medical team has assured of their readiness for the fiesta.
Iber told the Tidesports source  yesterday, in Makurdi that various health teams had been deployed to the Games’ venues and were “fully mobilised to attend to medical emergencies’’.
“We have over 200 health workers for these events, they comprise of Doctors, Nurses, Internship Doctors and other health workers as well as volunteers.
“They will work as a team in all the designated centres; we have our Uni Agric Clinic, Benue State University Teaching Hospital and the Federal Medical Centre, all working in collaboration with us.
“Severe cases will be treated in the hospitals while our mobile health service will provide first aid,’’ he assured.
He explained that ambulances, stretchers, drugs and first aid services were available at every centre.
Iber also said the medical ad sanitation team had inspected the hostels for the athletes, including its environment and was mandated to inspect food provided by vendors as well.
The Games, being hosted by the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, holding from April 22 to April 30, have been bugged by technical hitches.
