The Obuzor Vanguard, a non-governmental community- based organisation has described the approval for the reconstruction of some roads in Ekpeye Kingdom by Governor Nyesom Wike as  one of the best things that have happened in the area in the recent time.
In a press statement, the Co-ordinator of the organisation, Hon Ikechukwu Obuzor, said the body was extremely grateful to Rivers State Government for the gesture and gave the names of the approved roads as Odiokwu – Anwunugbokor – Ubeta – Odiereke road, Edeoha – Ikata-Ochigba – Ozochi road, Ahoada – Ekpena road and Ahoada – Odiemerenyi-Ihugbogo road.
The statement said, this shows the deliberate policies of the Wik -led administration to open up the economic space for business to thrive in Ekpeye rural communities.
Obuzor, a former caretaker committee chairman of Ahoada West LGA, said the rehabilitation of these roads which had been in a bad shape and neglected by previous administrations, will no doubt reduce the sufferings faced by rural dwellers in the affected communities.
The Obuzor Vanguard further commended the governor  for approving the remodeling of County High School Ahoada, noting that the upgrade of the school will raise the standard of education not only in the town but also in the surrounding communities.
The organisation while also commending the state chief executive for upgrading the stool of Eze Igbu Akoh to a second class status, appreciated the efforts of Senator Osinakachukwu Ideozu representing Rivers West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, for facilitating the development of Ekpeye.
The organisation attributed the lack of development in Ekpeye to neglect by past administrations, stressing that the emergence of “our in-law as governor is divine and timely as to reshape Ekpeye ethnic nationality for good”.
