Dickson Presents Four Refurbished APCs To Police
Bayelsa State Police Command has been presented four refurbished Armoured Personnel Carriers by the state Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson in a brief ceremony at the Government House, Yenagoa.
The governorý while presenting the keys of the APCs to the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Amba Asuquo, said: “It is the first of a series of support for the police as more vehicles will be provided to assist them to rid the state of criminal elements.”
While warning criminally- minded people to stay clear from the state, the governor stated that his administration this year will spare nothing to ensure that the state was safe for business and other activities.
“In this year, the security of our state will move to a higher level. This year, the security of Yenagoa metropolis will move to a higher level. All those small criminals who are still trying to misbehave should just know that Yenagoa and this state will be too hot for them”.
Dickson charged the commissioner to ensure that the vehicles are put into proper use by his men and announced plans by his government to also acquire motorbikes to further enrich the patrol capacity of the command.
He said, “ I have no doubt that you will put these vehicles to good use. I also have no doubt that you and your sister agencies will continue to receive the cooperation and collaboration from the government and people of our state”.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police-Amba Asuquo, thanked the governor for his benevolence, which has further demonstrated his commitment to maintain the existing peace in the state.
The commissioner assured the governor of the readiness of his men to fulfill the high expectations of people of the state and appeal for more support for the command.
The presentation of the four refurbished APC’s is coming few days after the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 5, Abubakar Adamu Mohammed, adjudged Bayelsa as the safest state in the Niger Delta.
