Surveyors Discuss Role In Recessed Economy, ’Morrow

The President of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), Surv. Akinloye Oyegbola and the Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the institution, Surv Joseph Wobo Amadi will tomorrow host a cross-section of the business community to a Dinner/Lecture party.

The first of the its kind in NIS, the event tagged 365 Nightout With Surveyors (Season  One) will commence by 6pm at the Arena Event Centre, 30 Tombia Street, GRA, Port Harcourt.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Tuesday, Publicity Secretary of NIS in Rivers State chapter, Surv. Godwill T. Pepple said the topic of the lecture is “The Role of Surveyors In A Recessed Economy”.

According to him, the essence of the lecture is not only to build synergy with stakeholders to get the economy out of the woods but also open up the profession of surveying to society, particularly the youth.

Expected at the dinner/lecture are stakeholders in the Built Environment which include Quantity Surveyors, Estate Valuers, Architects, Town Planners and Civil Engineers while those expected from the Earth Science profession include Geographers, Geologists and Geophysicists.

Pepple said stakeholders from the financial institutions, and the media, among others will also grace the occasion.

According to him, the lecture will be delivered by Ijeoma E. Kanu, a Professor of Economics (Development Studies) at the University of Port Harcourt.
