NCAA Probes Stowaway Death On Arik Flight

Aviation Authority (NCAA) has said that investigations to determine the identity of the dead stowaway found in South Africa on an Arik Air flight had been initiated.
A statement issued by the Manager, Public Affairs of the NCAA, Mr Sam Adurogboye which was made available to The Tide stated that the authority would take the necessary action, after investigations have been concluded.
According to the NCAA statement, the investigation into the death of the stowaway on the flight was with the collaboration of Arik Air, which is an airline of Nigerian origin, and the South Africa authorities.
The Civil Aviation Authority posited that the matter, though still under investigation,further actions and decision on it would be taken after the conclusion.
“The matter is still being investigated and decision will be taken after the investigation is being carried out by the NCAA through the active involvement of the airline itself and with the authorities of South Africa”, he said.
Meanwhile, the Acting General Manager, Public Affairs of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, has said that the authorities were yet to establish the identity of the stowaway.
Yakubu, in a statement explained that information available to the airport authority suggested that the said body was already decomposed.
According to the FAAN public affairs chief, it was possible that a body could decompose in a six hours flight to South Africa, but did not however draw a conclusion on it.
