The Managing Director of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Engineer Saleh Dunoma, has charged officers of the Aviation Security and Aerodroma Rescue and Fire Fighting Services Personnel to put service first before everything else.
He said that the ability to set priorities will determine the quality of their stewardship, even in an era of rapid socio-economic changes.
Dunoma who gave the charge at the close of training for the officers in Lagos, maintained that the airport authority would continue to train and develop capacity of its members of staff.
Represented by the Director of Maintenance and Engineering, Engineer Olufemi Ogunode, the Managing Director opined that earning the respect and trust worthiness of their superior, the trained officers would always show exemplary followership qualities.
“So you have to care for your superiors and be matured in your dealings. Be receptive to their advice and accept constructive critisms”, he stated.
The FAAN boss also advised the trained personnel, that as security and firemen in the airports, their commitment to honour, respect and devotion to duty must be second to none; just as the career is much more than a job, but a calling.
“Today, we add you as a link to our chain as members of staff of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria. It is a chain that is characterized by professionalism, discipline, sacrifice, team work, inter agency collaboration and patience, among others, the MD explained.
Dunoma also re-assured the officers of FAAN that the authority would continue to invest in its human resources programmes and development, and charged them to be committed, dedicated as well as approach duties assigned to them with high sense of responsibility.
