Wike Alerts On Police Partisanship

The Special Thanksgiving Service and dedication of the state ahead the schedule re-run elections held at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Diobu flagged-off government activities last week.

Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike used the church service to assure citizens of the quest to transform the state and sustain the peace capable of attracting investors. The governor said those striving to frustrate government’s good gesture would fail.

Chief Wike therefore tasked the church and all good citizens of Rivers State to pray for peace reminding them that they have no place than to join hands to develop their state.

Last Monday, participants of the Senior Course 39 of the Armed Forces Command Staff College led by Brigadier Johnson Eretin paid a courtesy visit to Chief Wike in Government House.

The stdents consisting of commissioned officers from the armed forces intimated the governor that they were in the state to understudy the developmental projects of state government, especially in the area of public private partnership. The visit they said would afford them first hand knowledge of government programmes.

The Senior Course 39 participants were later taken on a facility tour of some on-going projects by Governor Wike. On the evening of Friday they were treated to a special farewll dinner.

The governor, last Tuesday, flagged-off the construction of road project at Etche. He returned back to the local government area again on Friday to flag-off the reconstruction of Igbo Etche Chokocho Road.

Wike told Etche people that whatever, project government was doing in their area was in reciprocation of the support they had given him during Elections. He said his plan is to develop Etche, adding “Etche people deserve the best … I will not play politics with road construction”.

The governor was at Eleme Local Government Area on Thursday to officially kick-start the rehabilitation of Nchia General Hospital. The moribund health facility is to be given a facelift and fitted with modern facilities and the job is to be completed in three months.

From Eleme, the governor and his entourage went to Okochiri in Okrika. At Okrika he announced the rehabilitation of the Okrika General Hospital ad officially kicked-off the reconstruction of the Okochiri Road.

He maintained that the Okochiri road long abandoned would enhance economic activities and give the people a sense of belonging.

The Appeal Court ruling announcing bail for former Asari-Toru Local Government Chairman, Ojukaye Flag Amachree, was highly condemned by the Commissioner for Justice and State Attorney-General Emma Aguma (SAN) who insisted that he still has case to answer.

Also last Friday, Governor Wke, at Igbo-Etche, raised alarm over the sudden withdrawal of his security details by the Nigeria Police. He accused the police of partisanship, and emphasized that he would not be scared by the antics of security agencies ahead the rerun elections.

Last Saturday, Governor Wike attended the wedding ceremony of the son of Hon. Ken Chikere, at St. Pauls Anglian Church, Diobu Port Harcourt.
