Top Stars Shun Rangers Pre-Season

Top stars of champions of Nigeria professional football League, NPFL Rangers have stayed away from a pre-season training camp in Benin City, which opened at the weekend, because they claim they are owed salaries and bonuses.
The newly crowned Nigeria champions left Enugu on Sunday with just 10 players led by team captain Okey Odita.
But a good number of players have refused to return to camp claiming that they are owed four match bonuses and two months’ salary.
According to a reliable source the players and officials who traveled to Benin were given a paltry sum of 2,000 Naira as pocket money.
Meanwhile, the team is yet to release the names of players retained or dropped for the new season as the Enugu State Government is yet to host the team after their exploits last season where they won the 2015/2016 NPFL title.
Their counterparts Rivers United, who will also represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League, are putting final arrangements to depart the country for Spain in continuation of their pre-season build-up.
