Stakeholders Collaborate To Boost Agric In S’West

Against the backdrop
of the current economic realities in Nigeria, as well as agriculture’s position in the realm of revitalising the economy, Agro Nigeria, in collaboration with the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission organised the just-concluded South-West Agricultural Summit (SWAS).
The event whose theme was “Achieving an Agro-Powered Regional Economy, and held at Ibadan recently was co-convened through the instrumentality of the Nigeria Incentive-based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), the securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the, Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) and AFEX Commodities Exchange Limited.
According to an e-mailed statement made available to The Tide on Monday, the resolutions by stakeholders at the event centred on the need to incorporate a sub-national emphasis in agricultural development.
He explained that it should be in such a way as to create access to markets, finance, infrastructure and research hinging on public private partnership.
It was also resolved that the youth, being a critical mass in this matrix, must be maintained into evolving regional agricultural development.
